DIY 18K mini spit install, performance, quality

Posted by Luke Haynes on Oct 5th 2025

I installed my new 4th gen 18K DIY mini split and followed the instructions in the manual provided. I have to say it was a very straightforward process provided you have some experience with basic hand tools and basic residential wiring knowledge. It's working great and is very efficient. I noticed one problem some people have with theirs failing is oil pooling in the line set. I did some research and found it's best have the excess in a horizontal position to help prevent this. I hope this helps any fellow DIYers out there!
